Everyone will feel depressed or anxious at some point in life, but not everyone will be formally diagnosed from the big purple book. Depression can look like losing motivation despite being a high-achiever. Depression can feel like a constant urge to cry or numb out. It can appear as piles of laundry, untouched to-do lists, or having everything done because it “has” to be.

Feeling depressed can feel like nothing at all, a surge of resentment, anger, hopelessness, indecision, or worthlessness. Depression can be a reaction to your environment, a result of your biology, or both.

Novel Counseling uses concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Radically Open DBT, and Brainspotting to work through stuck points. Depending on what you need, we can make sessions highly focused and structured or we can go with the flow and have these concepts in mind.

I’m a big believer in not only having a deeper understanding of yourself but also having your behaviors shift as a result. You will not get another list of shoulds, but a variety of options to do life in a way that makes sense to you.
